AHRAZ report on the situation of Iranian Azerbaijani civil rights activists arrestees:

Hossein Alimohammadi, arrested on 1 March 2015 and after serving 10 days on security forces detention, Mr Alimohammadi was transferred to section 12 of Tabriz Central Prison on 10 March 2015. He is still at Tabriz Central Prison. Apparently he is serving his 3 years imprisonment sentenced, which has been issued on June 2014. Note: AHRAZ explained extensively about Mr Hossein Alimohammadi’s last month situation and his previous activities on March 2015 report.

Alireza Farshi Yekenli was released on 19 April 2015. Mr yekenli arrested on 21 February 2015 at his apartment in Tehran. He was then released on bail on 19 April 2015 after serving 58 days at Evin prison / Tehran. Based on our information the judge had issued conditional release on bail when he was arrested, but since Iranian intelligence service did neither allow Mr Farshi’s lawyer to access to his case nor his family, thus his family and his lawyer could not take an action regarding his release and Mr Alireza Farshi Yekenli was kept unlawfully at Evin prison’s solitary confinement for 58 days.

Ali Rezaei, who was arrested on 04 February 2015 at Tehran Airport, still is in solitary confinement. Based on our information the judge has issued released on bail to Mr Ali Reazei, however Iranian intelligence service still keep him at Evin prison’s section 209. The procedure of Mr Rezaei’s investigation is unlawful and he has been deprived of prisoners’ right. His wife Ms Shiva Dadashzadeh who has fired because of her interviews regarding her husband arrest, could met her husband a few times during past three months after Mr Rezaei’s arrest.

Behboud Gholizadeh, another Azerbaijani prisoner of conscious who sentenced for nine years imprisonment along with four other Azerbaijani civil right activists on 16 Feb 2013, had temporary permission for his treatment in hospital. In spite of his request for extending of temporary release, he was asked to back to Tabriz prison without having sufficient time to complete medical treatment. He is now serving in Tabriz prison while he is suffering from prostate and kidney problems. It is need to be mentioned that, Amnesty International has issued an urgent action declaration regarding Behboud Gholizadeh and his four fellow member of YENI GAMOH (NGO) on 12 June 2013.

Hamid Farrokhi, a Turkish Azerbaijani peddler from Tabriz – East Azerbaijan province committed self-immolation On 13 April 2015 and died on 19 April 2015. Mr. Hamid Farrokhi a 43 years old peddler had referred to the municipality to get back his petty property that had been confiscated by the municipality officials. They refused to return his trivial property to him. As consequence of the refusal of the Tabriz municipality officials, Mr Farrokhi committed self-immolation in front of the municipal building of District Eight in Tabriz, on 13 April 2015 and lost his life due to severity of his burns on19 April 2015.

Similarly, on 22 March 2015, Mr Younes Asakereh, an Iranian Arab peddler from Khorramshahr city, lost his life. He also had committed self-immolation in protest to municipality officials as they had confiscated his petty business stand.
